Star growth per time window: stars gained, growth percentage, the star count at the start of the period, and whether the figure was measured from our own two-hour intraday snapshots, daily snapshots, or GitHub’s rebuilt star history, for the last 6 hours, the last 12 hours, today, the last 7 days, the last 30 days, and the last year. A period with no current measurement is left blank rather than shown as zero.

A period with no current measurement is left blank: a delta needs a measurement at both ends of the period. The 6- and 12-hour periods need two intraday measurements exactly that far apart, the day-and-longer periods need snapshots on both dates, and the last year also needs star history from a year ago, which we keep for one year.

A Reddit search for github.com/niri-wm/niri runs while this page is rendered, at most once every 6 hours per repository. What it finds is stored in our database (25 posts per fetch, at most 200 repositories a day), so the numbers on this site can be reproduced later. Reddit's feed has no scores or comment counts, so none are shown.

Shares topics with
Repositories that share at least two topics with this one: most shared topics first, then stars gained in the last 24 hours.
Stars: 28.1k when it entered our index, 28.6k on the last capture we hold (23 Oct 2026), so +547 in that span. That span is our own measurement window, not a claim about what happened before it.
It has never shown up on GitHub Trending while we were watching, so there is no arrival to compare against.
We hold 3 mentions for it, the oldest dated 29 Jul 2026 and the first written into our database on 5 Oct 2026. Thread dates come from the source, not from when we fetched them.

Actually for me it's different. I've been using Tmux and later Zellij for many years, while I was on Ubuntu's Unity, then Gnome, KDE, i3 and lastly sway. Until I switched to niri ( https://github.com/niri-wm/niri ) ... since then I haven't used tmux at all. Very weird, come to think of.
This is very cool. I remember being an aspiring designer in university when I saw your 10/GUI video, and was very excited about it. It was an interesting time, with Jeff Han's demo and the original Microsoft Surface (the table, not the tablet, lol). I'm happy you finally have a(n almost) live product many years later! Spear reminds me a lot of Niri[1], the horizontal scrolling tiling window manag…
I keep thinking of trying to see how far I get re-doing Niri in River. The one other constraint that I'd really like to see relaxed is about displays, about being able to merge and subdivide screens as I please. Having a huge ultra-wide display really would be so much better if I could divide it up somehow. This is kind of the headline feature of stilch, which is a pretty neat compositor, https:/…
