Star growth per time window: stars gained, growth percentage, the star count at the start of the period, and whether the figure was measured from our own two-hour intraday snapshots, daily snapshots, or GitHub’s rebuilt star history, for the last 6 hours, the last 12 hours, today, the last 7 days, the last 30 days, and the last year. A period with no current measurement is left blank rather than shown as zero.

A period with no current measurement is left blank: a delta needs a measurement at both ends of the period. The 6- and 12-hour periods need two intraday measurements exactly that far apart, the day-and-longer periods need snapshots on both dates, and the last year also needs star history from a year ago, which we keep for one year.

Repositories in the same collection, of a comparable size (within 5× in stars) and from a different owner, that were discussed in the same threads. Same-owner projects are excluded because they are usually pieces of the same tool, not rivals. A repository also stays out if the two never met in a discussion.

Stars: 25.9k when it entered our index, 26k on the last capture we hold (24 Oct 2026), so +82 in that span. That span is our own measurement window, not a claim about what happened before it.
Its most recent thread before Trending is more than 90 days older than that day, so the two are not the same story and we do not claim lead time.
We hold 56 mentions for it, the oldest dated 16 Sep 2015 and the first written into our database on 24 Oct 2026. Thread dates come from the source, not from when we fetched them.

Bazel uses neither of those; Bazel's Starlark interpreter (which is the original Starlark implementation, predating the Go and Rust ones) is written in Java. It hasn't been extracted into a standalone library with a stable API, so only Bazel can really use it. https://github.com/bazelbuild/bazel/tree/master/src/main/jav...
Chicory seems like it'll be pretty useful. Java doesn't have easy access to the platform-specific security mechanisms (seccomp, etc) that are used by native tools to sandbox their plugins, so it's nice to have WebAssembly's well-designed security model in a pure-JVM library. I've used it to experiment with using WebAssembly to extend the Bazel build system (which is written in Java). Currently th…
